Fifth race of the season in Germany

After a great test at Silverstone in June and with a good record at Silverstone, having qualified P3 in 2017 and finishing P4 in 2016, my confidence was high for my home race at the British GP 6-8 July.

The 2018 qualifying curse struck again when qualifying was ruined by a red flag stoppage at just the wrong time for my run on new tyres. The track was so hot and sticky, there was only one lap from the set of new tyres, so a few of us lost out.

I started the race in P14 and raced hard, finishing P9, but qualifying is what really matters and I need to get a good starting position for the remaining races.

It was great to meet guests from Nine Group / eve, LA Micro, Calteq and Whittlebury Hall at Silverstone. I hope you all had a great time – thank you for your brilliant support. Huge thanks to Whittlebury Hall for looking after us so well.

It’s the fifth round of the 2018 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season coming up this weekend. The German Grand Prix at the Hockenheimring this weekend marks the half way point, with 5 more races in Hungary (next weekend), Belgium, Italy and Mexico (2).

The German Grand Prix didn’t appear on the F1 calendar last year, so this is my first time racing at the Hockenheimring and I’m really looking forward to it. The forecast is for hot weather, but a chance of a thunderstorm on Saturday. That could make things interesting!

The schedule this weekend is (UK timings):

Friday 20 July: 16:20 – 17.05 Practice
Saturday 21 July: 12:55 – 13:25 Qualifying
Sunday 22 July: 11:05 – 11:40 Race (14 laps or 30 minutes)

The race is shown live on TV:

10:45 – EUROSPORT 2 HD
10:55 – SKY SPORTS F1 HD

There is also Live Streaming on the official PORSCHE website and on

Have a great weekend!
