My 2016 race programme announced
At last I’m able to announce my race plans for 2016. It’s been a long winter and it feels like ages since I have been in a race car!
This year I’ll be racing in the Blancpain Endurance Series for Konrad Motorsport in the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 and dovetailing a second series racing on the same race weekends, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series, also for Konrad Motorsport. I’ll send another update before the first race with all the race dates and more details.
I’m also very excited to say that I leave tomorrow to fly to the USA to compete in the historic Sebring
12 Hours racing for Konrad Motorsport in the Lamborghini Huracan GT3. It will be my first race in the USA, first time at Sebring and first time in the Lamborghini!
I have always had a dream of racing at Sebring. It’s the 64th running of this historic race and everyone says it’s a tough race with a really bumpy combination of tarmac and concrete in very hot and humid weather. The race ends at night, so that’s another thing that will be new to me. I’ve been recommended to check out “The Zoo” where the RV’s and fans are based. Apparently they make British race fans appear reserved to say the least! It’s a week of partying for the fans and hard hot work for the drivers so I may try to get over there after the race for a cold beer!
I now need to learn about endurance racing as until now I have always raced in sprint series. The longest race I have done until now was 45 minutes at the support race to the 24 Hours of LeMans in the Porsche Carrera Cup international race. I’ll need to get used to some longer stints in the car. My team mates will be announced soon and I’m really looking forward to meeting them and getting to work.
Thanks to my manager Brad Fincham of Define Performance and Franz Konrad for putting this great programme together. Everyone has worked really hard to get the plans in place and I’m very grateful
to Brad for his hard work and to Franz Konrad for the faith he’s shown in me.
Thank you to my partners, Zenith Vehicle Contracts, LA Micro, Workflow and Nine Group for their continued support and to all of you for your messages. It really means a lot to have such great support.
I’ll post an update after Sebring with some photos.
