Good pace in Barcelona – now on to Monaco!

We had mixed results in Barcelona, but we showed great pace. In the practice session I was 5th quickest, but in qualifying I had an issue with my first set of tyres, so I needed to get two good qualifying times from my second set of tyres, which was a big ask. I qualified 5th for the first race and 9th for the second race.

I made a small change in set up for race one, which wasn’t the right way to go and my car was difficult to drive. I managed to hang on to finish 6th, but it was hard. As 3rd placed Rookie, we received our first trophy which was cool and with the change to the balance of the car I felt confident for race two.

For the second race the car felt great and from 9th on the grid I was able to move forward on the first lap. Unfortunately I made contact with the back of another car and was given a drive through penalty which dropped me to the back. I finished 19th and out of the points. The positive to take away from Barcelona is that we had really good pace, I’m learning a lot about the car and I feel confident that we’ll keep on improving.

Now we move on to Monaco this weekend. I can’t believe that I have the chance to race at this most iconic circuit. It has been a long-held dream to race in Monaco and I can’t wait to get on track for the first time. It will be a big challenge, as Monaco is a difficult and demanding circuit, in fact it will be the first time I have ever raced on a street circuit. I’m so excited but I have no idea how it’s going to go!

The schedule this weekend is (UK timings):

I’m looking forward to meeting up with some of my sponsor partners this weekend – Monaco is an amazing place to visit and I hope I can give them an exciting race and a great result.

Thank you all for your messages, it’s always great to hear from you. If you’re lucky enough to be in Monaco for the Grand Prix, have a wonderful time. If not, have a great Bank Holiday weekend.

I’m going to need some luck, so please keep your fingers crossed that I stay out of trouble (and the barriers) this weekend!
