Exciting Times

It’s 4 months since the last race of the 2014 season when I won the Porsche Carrera Cup GB championship title, but it feels so much longer when there’s no racing. We have worked very hard over the winter to get the budget together for 2015 and at last there’s light at the end of the tunnel so we can get going again!

The last time I saw the car on 1st November it was in the foyer of the hotel where the Porsche Awards evening was held. It was fun to see the number 1 on the car! Here’s a link to the Porsche review of the 2014 season (about 10 minutes long) including the Awards evening which I hope you enjoy: Porsche Carrera Cup GB 2014 2015

Since then the car’s had a full rebuild by Porsche and will be on show this weekend at the Porsche Experience Centre for the annual “Get Race Fit with Mark Webber” event. This is held at the Porsche Human Performance Centre, Silverstone on Saturday and Sunday. This year I’m one of the three drivers on the panel with Mark Webber and David Brabham; two legends of the sport who I really admire. I’m honoured to be included on the panel and hope I can contribute something useful!

ON TO 2015…

After all the hard work to get everything in place, at last I can confirm that I’ll be returning to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB championship to defend my title with support from the 2014/15 Porsche GB Scholarship.

This year however, after winning the title with Redline Racing last year, I’ll be racing with a different team, Team Parker Racing. I’m really excited to start working with Stuart Parker and his team and I’m sure we’re going to have a great year.

We’ll also be racing in Porsche Supercup at the British Grand Prix in July and I hope to be able to race in a few more Supercup rounds during the year subject to budget. Here’s the calendar so far:

17 March: Porsche Carrera Cup GB Media day Silverstone
4/5 April: Rounds 1 & 2 Brands Hatch (Indy) (BTCC)
1/2 May: Rounds 3 & 4 Spa Francorchamps (supporting WEC)
6/7 June: Rounds 5 & 6 Oulton Park (BTCC)
27/28 June: Rounds 7 & 8 Croft (BTCC)
4/5 July: Porsche Supercup Silverstone (British GP)
8/9 August: Rounds 9 & 10 Snetterton (BTCC)
22/23 August: Rounds 11 &12 Knockhill (BTCC)
26/27 September: Rounds 13 & 14 Silverstone (National) (BTCC)
10/11 October: Rounds 15 & 16 Brands Hatch GP (BTCC)

Pre-season testing starts next week and I can’t wait to get in the car! I’ll be running with race number 1 and a new livery (still lots of purple!). My new website is also being launched in the next few weeks by the web team at Flying Saucer Creative, so it’s all happening at last.

In addition to the second year of the Porsche Scholarship it’s great to continue with existing partners Nine Group, Porsche Retail Group, Close Brothers Leasing and Swissvax. Admiral Solutions have changed their name to Workflow Imaging Systems.

Welcome to new partners Zenith Intelligent Vehicle Solutions and LA Connect. It’s great to have you on board this year and I’m looking forward to working with you.

I hope to see many of you again at the race meetings. Thanks for all the messages and support. I’m sure it will be another exciting season, the grid for Porsche Carrera Cup is looking really strong and I’ll be giving it 100% to retain the title and make it two in a row!
